About
Sully's Place started in the minds of 2 sisters. They took their passion for helping people and melded it with their passion for horses. Having had horses as children, they always thought that someday they would again have them in their lives. As adults they became involved in a horse rescue. At the time one of them was also raising a child with autism and PTSD. In addition to this, they were both working on degrees. After researching the conditions of the child, they both found that most of their schoolwork was based around either autism or PTSD or the affect that equine therapy had on mental disorders. They first hand witnessed and experienced the interchange between human and horse and felt the power it brings. After adopting a blind mare that was considered unadoptable, their herd seemed to grow. Sully's dam was next and so on. Then came the idea that they could help others ...they could make a difference in not only the lives of their horses, but in people as well. Now they have 8 horses, 2 ponies, 3 mini horses, a mini donkey and a mini mule. Most came from unwanted or neglectful homes. Sadly, the calmest of them all is no longer present, but his spirit is present daily....at Sully's Heart.
Both sisters are trying to utilize their degrees to help the horses and the community. Brenda currently holds a Masters Degree in Psychology and Veronica has a Bachelors in Nutrition Science and her Masters in in Public Health. They hope to someday participate in research proving that Equine Therapy is a viable option for those that have had no luck with conventional options or are looking for something less obtrusive.
